Nie Dla Oka

Nie dla oka... (Not for the Eye...) is a debut studio album of Polish actress and singer Agnieszka Włodarczyk. It was released in November 2007, following Włodarczyk's win in Jak Oni Śpiewają, a Polish edition of Soapstar Superstar.

Background

A proposal to record a studio album was one of the awards in the Polish edition of Soapstar Superstar, Jak Oni śpiewają. After her victory in the show, Agnieszka Włodarczyk teamed with Robert Janson, a leader of Polish rock group Varius Manx, who produced Nie dla oka.... The album was recorded in the studio S4 and released by My Music label. Many famous Polish musicians have worked with Agnieszka on this project, including Krzysztof Antkowiak, Piotr Bukartyk, Marcin Piotrowski and Marcin Matuszyński. Some of the lyrics were written by Włodarczyk herself. There are also two covers: of Krystyna Prońko's Małe tęsknoty (Little Longings) and of Grażyna Łobaszewska's Brzydcy (The Ugly).

There were three singles planned to be released in order to promote the album: Zawsze byłam (I've Always Been), Bez makijażu (Without Make-Up) and Pokochać ciszę (Losing Heart for a Silence). The first one became a big hit in Poland, the second one passed unnoticed. Due to poor sales of the album and bad chart results of the second single, Pokochać ciszę was cancelled.

Critical response

Album received rather negative response from the critics. It was stronlgy criticised for being "mediocre" and "monotonous". The critics reproached Agnieszka for singing completely without emotions. However, the audience feedback was much warmer. Nie dla oka... peaked at #21 and was certifited gold in Poland.
